Don’t Wait To Be Happy
Don’t wait to be happy.
As human beings, we all have a basic desire to feel happy. Whether we realize it or not, happiness is part of who we are.
But how do you achieve it? Is it really just luck? Or can we actually learn to become happy?
This is an important question because many people don’t understand what happiness means. They think it’s all about getting inspired, having good luck or having good fortune.
But true happiness isn’t based on luck or random occurrences. It’s a state of mind that only comes with hard work, perseverance, and determination.
If you are looking to create your own happiness, then you need to look for a way to enjoy in getting there. Here, we will share with you our secrets of how to create your own happiness.
There is a path to happiness and it starts with you!
What Happens When You Wait for Happiness
What happens when you wait for happiness?
How often do you find yourself waiting for happiness to happen, instead of making it this condition happen? There are plenty of people who wait for the right moment, or the right relationship, or the right career opportunity to start living life to the fullest.
And while you might feel like you’re missing out on opportunities because you’re not doing anything, what you’re really doing is waiting.
The biggest mistake I see people making is waiting until they’re happy before they take action. We all have bad days, right? But what happens when we spend our days waiting for things to change before taking action?
It takes courage to follow your dreams and pursue your passions, especially if they don’t immediately lead to money or fame. You may not see immediate results, and that’s okay. Sometimes the best time to start is now.
When you are waiting for happiness, it’s a time when you can’t get anything done. You find yourself stuck in a cycle of procrastination.
Your mind is preoccupied with finding things to do, but you don’t have any real motivation to do anything.
You just feel stuck and frustrated, which creates a vicious cycle. It’s a vicious cycle because you get further and further behind each day.
Every time you sit down to start something, you end up putting it off again. The problem is, you don’t know when to stop. You keep going and going and going…
And you never actually get anywhere.
Instead, the most powerful thing you can do is take action today and focus in creating it. You need to decide to be happy.
What are the 4 Levels of Happiness?
In an earlier blog I wrote, “How Happy Are You Really?” Per the Spitzer Center for Visionary Leadership®, the Four Levels of Happiness are based upon the essence of timeless principles going clear back to Aristotle. Aristotle is well known for his philosophical viewpoint that ‘happiness is the one thing we desire in and of itself, everything else is desired for the sake of happiness”.
Let’s take a closer look at these four levels of happiness.
SPITZER’S® FOUR LEVELS OF HAPPINESS
Level 1) The first level of happiness is basically what is known as immediate gratification. Many of us derive pleasure out of simple impulsive desires. The problem is that it is short-lived, shallow, and impacts no one else except ourselves.
Level 2) The second level of happiness is more evident in the satisfaction of our egos. We all strive to be recognized in our career, constantly achieving and winning to get ahead. This level of happiness is also short-term because one can easily get ‘stuck’ at this level and never be satisfied with what they have accomplished. This level is not enduring.
Level 3) The third level of happiness is still about winning, and somewhat ego-driven as well. But the difference is that level three is aimed at ‘serving others’. It’s about wanting to make a contribution or a difference in the world around us. This is long-term in nature and very gratifying.
Level 4) The final and fourth level of happiness is what we all want to finally achieve. The ultimate goal is not found in materialistic things. But rather in the fundamental yearning for perfect truth, beauty, love, goodness, and being. This level of happiness and wisdom correlates to our own personal spiritual beliefs and is the ‘Ultimate Good’ and is both self-sustaining and enduring.
Happiness is Not Just a Feeling… It’s a Mindset
Happiness is not a feeling. Happiness is a mindset.
If you’re just starting out and you want to know how to be happy, you need to change your attitude and have a positive, growth mindset.
Many people hold back from pursuing their dreams because they feel too anxious or fearful. And then they wait until they’re “happy” before they take action.
While there is no such thing as a fast track to happiness, I’ve seen incredible results when people take action today and start creating positive habits which ideally become on auto-pilot on a daily basis.
Happiness is a habit that you have to learn. You cannot just wake up one day and decide to become happy.
You can’t wait until life isn’t hard anymore.
Your mind is very powerful, and you have the ability to change it. You just need to know what to do. I know this is easier said than done, but it is a very attainable goal.
It may sound difficult, but once you develop this skill, you will soon notice that you are automatically happier.
In our next section, we will discuss powerful suggestions on how to get started.
How to Get Started Being Happy Every Day?
How to Get Started Being Happy Every Day?
So, you want to start being happy. And you don’t want to wait for good fortune or luck to happen. Commit to yourself and don’t hesitate to connect positivity as best as you can. Work hard, look forward.
You need to start being happy right now. But how? What should you do? Well, here are a few tips that might help you get started.
1. Focus on gratitude
Start each day by saying “thank you.”
It doesn’t matter if you are grateful for the opportunity to wake up, the food you eat, or the fact that you have a job.
You can start by thanking the person who picked up your coffee or the cashier at the store.
Whatever you focus on, gratitude is the key to happiness.
2. Stop focusing on the negative
We all face challenges in life. But when we focus on the negatives, the problems only get worse.
Instead, try to turn everything into a positive.
If you’re having trouble sleeping, try counting sheep instead.
If you’re having trouble getting motivated, try working on a project that makes you happy.
And finally, strive to focus on the positive and you’ll find that the negative thoughts eventually fade away.
3. Stop obsessing about the past
The past is done. Don’t waste time worrying about it.
Instead, look to the future and focus on what you can do to improve your life.
4. Don’t expect the impossible
When you expect something, you’ll be disappointed.
But when you don’t expect anything, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
5. Don’t give up
Don’t quit when things get difficult. Instead, keep going.
Even if you have to start from scratch.
6. Don’t compare yourself to others
Comparison is the thief of joy.
Instead of comparing yourself to others, focus on the differences between you and them.
7. Don’t try to force happiness
There is no such thing as a quick fix for happiness. Instead, just focus on being happy.
Stop Waiting & Be Happy Now
